Friday Photo: These Boots Were Made For Walkin' But They Could Soon Be Running

That's one cool pair of cool cowboy boots featuring New Mexico's famous Zia symbol. The question is were they made for running?

The smooth leather belongs to ABQ Dem Congresswoman Michelle Lujan Grisham who showed them off at the recent NM Democratic Pre-primary Convention. Speculation continued to follow her there that she will make one more run for the congressional seat this year and then shift her attention to the race for the 2018 Dem gubernatorial nomination.

Right now those boots  were made for walkin' but running could soon be in their future.

MAYOR WHO?

We had fun this week putting together the list of potential 2017 ABQ mayoral candidates that are making the rounds. Readers came with a few more to keep an eye on, including Dem Veronica Garcia, director of NM Voices for Children, Republican Celina Bussey, the cabinet secretary for Workforce Solutions, Dem BernCo District Attorney Kari Brandenburg, 2013 Dem mayoral hopeful Pete Dinelli and former Dem State Treasurer James Lewis.

BRIGHT LIGHTS

Reader Phil Sisneros writes of our coverage this week of the federal investigation of Gov. Martinez's top political adviser:

Joe, I applaud your tenacity and reportage on this hugely important story. Please continue your efforts. . . As a former journalist and government agency spokesperson, I know first hand how disappointing it is to see the mainstream media and the general public turn a deaf ear to the facts. . .You are one of the only bright lights in a mostly dark world of what today passes as real journalism, keep up the great work!

Thanks for stopping by this week.
