ABQ attorney Brian Colón, 37, will be the new chairman of the New Mexico Democratic party, elected to a two year term in a landslide vote today at the Las Cruces meeting of the Dems central committee. Colón won 295 votes, former State Rep. Michael Olguin came in second with 68 votes and Gideon Elliot was third with 21 votes. "Brian worked harder and it paid off," said one delegate attending the session.
Republicans are also electing a state chairman today. When results are in, we'll post them.
